CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVISITED RETURNS
TO PERFORM AT DTE ENERGY MUSIC THEATRE JULY 13

Classic rockers Creedence Clearwater Revisited return to Metro Detroit to perform at DTE Energy Music Theatre on Sunday, July 13 at 7:30 p.m.

Stu Cook and Doug “Cosmo” Clifford may not have intended it, but their band Creedence Clearwater Revisited has taken on a startling life of its own.  The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame rhythm section (bass and drums respectively) from the legendary group Creedence Clearwater Revival launched the Creedence Clearwater Revisited project in 1995 to once again perform live Creedence Clearwater Revival hits - touchstones of a generation.  Though the pair initially only planned to play private parties, Creedence Clearwater Revisited now performs up to 100 shows a year and has released the album Recollection.     “We never really had any intention of playing for the public,” says Cook.  “But a friend wanted to promote a couple of concerts. We got talked into it, but didn’t know how it would go over.”

Tickets at $34.50 pavilion and $10 lawn go on sale this Friday, April 4 at 10 a.m. at Palacenet.com, The Palace Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations. Tickets may also be charged by phone to American Express, Discover, Visa and MasterCard by calling 248/645-6666. READ MORE

Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Model T

Bring in the New Season and Celebrate the Model T Centennial All Year Long

Get ready to experience the sights, sounds and sensations of 300 years of America ’s past when Greenfield Village re-opens for the 2008 season on Tuesday, April 15.  Enjoy the many seasonal offerings Greenfield Village has to share, along with special programs and activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Model T.

In 2008, The Henry Ford is your destination for all things related to the Model T centennial.  The first Model T, “the car that put the world on wheels,” was built on September 27, 1908, and to commemorate this historic anniversary, The Henry Ford will offer a variety of special programs and events throughout the 2008 season, including:

  • Model T rides: Greenfield Village is the only place in the country where you can ride in a real Model T, so take a spin and learn the ins and outs of this iconic vehicle from our specially-trained drivers.
  • Visit with your Model T: This summer, Model T owners will be able to purchase a special package that allows two people and their Model T to visit Greenfield Village and show off their antique vehicle to tens of thousands of visitors at our outdoor living history museum.
  • Meet “Lizzie”: Climb inside a stationary Model T near the Richart Wagon Shop and learn the history, social significance and operational basics of the Tin Lizzie.
  • Henry’s T: Enjoy a dramatic presentation of young Henry Ford, and discover how he was inspired to build the world’s universal car.
  • Model T medley: Hear the sweet sounds of the Greenfield Quartet and Village Trio as they perform a lively medley of Model T-inspired songs from the early 20th century.
  • Motor Muster (June 14-15): A special section of the “T-bucket” hot rods – made popular in the 1950s and 1960s – join more than 500 cars from the 1930s through the 1970s on display throughout Greenfield Village .
  • Old Car Festival (September 6-7): See more than 200 Model Ts on regional tour when they stop by America’s longest-running antique car show – our annual Old Car Festival, which showcases cars, trucks, motorcycles and bicycles from 1932 and earlier.
  • Model T handcrafted glass keepsakes: Stop by our retail locations and take home a piece of this centennial celebration with a hand-blown mug, shot glass or stamped coin made by our Liberty Craftworks artisans.

Additional Model T-related activities offered at The Henry Ford include:

  • Build a Model T: Starting in May, visitors to Henry Ford Museum can get hands-on and build a real Model T every day in this facilitated program.
  • The World of the Model T Conference (July 17-19): With a keynote address by Bob Casey, a nationally-recognized automotive historian and The Henry Ford’s curator of transportation, this conference will explore the meaning, impact and influence of the Model T Ford in the United States and around the world.  Tours of historic sites, including the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant in Detroit – the birthplace of the Model T – is part of the conference experience as well.  For more information, visit www.thehenryford.org.
  • The Henry Ford Ideas and Innovations Lecture Series – The Model T: A Car for the Great Multitude (September 7): Join Robert Casey, The Henry Ford’s curator of transportation and nationally-recognized Model T expert, at 1 p.m. in Greenfield Village as he discusses his newly-published book, The Model T: A Centennial History (Johns Hopkins University Press).
